URIMALGEUL The Korean Language and Literature 28, ∼ . This study aims to investigate ChunWon[春園]`s historical novels in 1920s`, focusing on three aspects; 1) the author-narrator`s attitude toward reader-narratee, 2) the peculiarity of this period as a formative era of modern novel, 3) all the literary activities. The early three works([嘉實], {許生傳}, {一說 春香傳}) were written with his intention of taking up a position in literary society, and the others({麻衣太子}, {端宗哀史}) evoking the colonial conditions.
